长城是中华民族之魂，历经两千年沧桑纵横十万里疆土。其构筑使用之久长，规模形制之宏伟，分布地域之广大，影响范围之深远堪称人类奇迹，是世界七大奇观之首，是中华民族留给人类的一笔弥足珍贵的世界文化遗产。
长城是不同时期的古代中国的为抵御不同时期的塞北游牧部落联盟侵袭而修筑的规模浩大的军事工程的统称。长城东西绵延上万华里，因此又称作“万里长城”。现存的长城遗迹主要为始建于14世纪的明长城，西起嘉峪关，东至鸭绿江边的虎山长城，全长8851.8公里。
The Great Wall of China, one of the greatest wonders of the world, was enlisted in the World Heritage by UNESCO in 1987. Just like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, stretching approximately 8,851.8 kilometers (5,500 miles) from east to west of China.
With a history of more than 2000 years, some of the sections are now in ruins or even entirely disappeared. However, it is still one of the most appealing attractions all around the world owing to its architectural grandeur and historical significance.
